When people pick up one of our jars at a market here in the Sault, the first question is almost always the same. Tallow, on my face? I understand the hesitation, so let me tell you why it is the heart of everything I make.
What grass-fed tallow actually is
Tallow is a rich, nourishing fat that has been used on skin for generations, long before the beauty aisle existed. I use grass-fed tallow because it is close in makeup to the oils your skin already produces, so it melts in and feels comfortable instead of heavy.

Why I keep the ingredient list so short
I believe in quality over complexity. You will not find a long, unreadable list on the back of our jars. Just grass-fed tallow and a handful of botanicals I can name and stand behind.
- Jojoba and rosehip oils for everyday nourishment
- Raw local honey in North Glow
- Calendula and colloidal oatmeal for a calm, comfortable finish
- Nothing synthetic, no filler, no mystery

“Designed for those who appreciate quality over complexity, each formula is crafted to support healthy-looking skin while reflecting the calm, understated beauty of the North.”

Common questions about tallow skincare
Is tallow good for skin?
Many people find it deeply nourishing and comfortable, especially for dry or weather-worn skin, because it is so similar to the skin's own oils. As with anything new, patch test first.
Does tallow feel greasy?
Used in a small amount, it sinks in and leaves skin soft rather than shiny. A little really does go a long way.
Is North Channel tallow scented?
North Glow has a soft botanical scent from frankincense, North Calm is gentle, and North Relief is completely unscented.
